Polls
Polls let you gather opinions from the community by attaching a voting question to a thread.
Adding a poll to a thread
- When you create a thread, open the Poll section in the composer.
- Enter your poll question.
- Add your answer options. Two are there to start — click + Add option for more.
- Choose the poll type and results setting (see below).
- Publish the thread. The poll appears with the thread.
Poll types
| Type | How it works |
|---|---|
| Single choice | Each voter picks one option. |
| Multiple choice | Voters can pick more than one option. You can set a max picks limit, or leave it unlimited. |
| Ranked | Voters rank the options in order of preference, and results are scored by rank. |
Results visibility
Choose when voters can see the results:
- After you vote (default) — results appear once you cast your vote.
- Always — results are visible before voting.
- After it closes — results stay hidden until the poll closes.
Voting
- Select your choice, choices, or ranking, depending on the poll type.
- Cast your vote.
- Results show as a bar chart with percentages and the total number of votes, based on the results setting above.
Closing a poll
A poll can have a close date. Once a poll closes it shows its final results and no longer accepts votes. Until then, a countdown shows how long is left.
Tips
- Polls are a good way to gauge interest before proposing a community change.
- Keep your options clear and distinct so the results are easy to read.
- Use Ranked when you want preference order, not just a single favorite.
