Signing in with a passkey
A passkey lets you sign in with Face ID, Touch ID, your device's screen lock, or a hardware security key instead of typing a password. It's part of mobieusID, the single sign-in you use across every Mobieus community you belong to.
Because the passkey stays on your device and is unlocked by you, there's no password to remember, reuse, or have phished. You can add a passkey as a faster, passwordless way to sign in, or as a second step on top of your password. You don't have to give up your password to use one.
Add a passkey
You can set up a passkey in the app or in your browser. Either way, you're adding it to your mobieusID, so it works across your communities.
- In the app. Open your account, choose Add a passkey, and confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode when prompted.
- In a browser. Go to Settings, open Email & Password (or the Security console), and choose Add a passkey. Your browser walks you through creating it — usually a tap of a fingerprint reader, a face scan, your computer's screen lock, or a security key you plug in or tap.
If your device or browser doesn't support passkeys yet, use an authenticator app for two-factor instead.
Save your recovery codes
The first time you add a passkey, mobieusID shows you a set of one-time recovery codes. Save them somewhere safe, like a password manager. Each code works once and gets you back in if you ever lose the device that holds your passkey. The codes are shown only once and won't be displayed again, so copy or download them before you close the screen.
Use more than one
You can register more than one passkey. Adding a second passkey — say one on your phone and one on your laptop — means you're not locked out if you leave a device behind. Add each one from the device you want to use it on.
Signing in
When you sign in, choose the passkey option and confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, your screen lock, or your security key. If you set the passkey up as a second step, you'll enter your password first and then confirm with the passkey.
If you can't reach any of your passkeys, sign in with one of your saved recovery codes, or use your password if you still have one set. If you're fully locked out, submit a ticket through the help desk.
