# Trust Levels & Roles
+ The platform uses a role hierarchy and a trust level system to manage permissions and gradually unlock features as members participate.
+
+ ## Role Hierarchy
+
+ Roles are assigned by administrators and define what a member can do.
+
+ | Role | Scope | Key Permissions |
+ |------|-------|----------------|
+ | **User** | Standard member | Post, reply, react, bookmark, vote in polls, create albums |
+ | **Moderator (Mod)** | Forum-level staff | Lock/move/delete threads, warn/mute members, access modmail, view mod log |
+ | **Admin** | Community-level staff | All Mod powers + manage forums, configure settings, manage roles |
+ | **Super Admin** | Top-level staff | All Admin powers + manage admins, access billing, configure integrations |
+
+ A member's role is visible via a badge next to their username in posts and on their profile.
+
+ ## Trust Levels
+
+ Trust levels are earned automatically through participation. They unlock additional capabilities as you engage with the community.
+
+ ### Level 0 — New Member
+
+ Granted at signup. Restrictions include:
+
+ - Cannot create new tags (must use existing ones).
+ - Posts may be held for moderation review in some forums.
+ - Limited to 3 direct messages per day.
+ - Cannot upload files larger than 2 MB.
+
+ ### Level 1 — Member
+
+ Earned after:
+
+ - 5 posts or replies.
+ - 24 hours since account creation.
+ - Reading at least 10 threads.
+
+ Unlocks:
The platform uses two separate systems: **roles**, which set what a member is allowed to do, and **trust levels**, which a member earns through participation.
+ - Create new tags.
+ - Upload files up to 10 MB.
+ - Unlimited direct messages.
+ - Access to the referral system.
## Roles
+ ### Level 2 — Trusted
Roles are assigned by administrators. The core roles, from lowest to highest, are:
+ Earned after:
| Role | What it means |
|------|---------------|
| **Banned** | Blocked from the community |
| **Registered** | Standard member — post, reply, react, bookmark, vote in polls, build albums |
| **Moderator** | Moderation tools and the moderation queue: lock/move threads, handle reports, view the mod log |
| **Administrator** | Full member management and content management on top of moderator powers |
| **Super Admin** | System configuration, branding, and full access |
+ - 50 posts or replies.
+ - 30 days of membership.
+ - Received at least 10 reactions on your content.
A member can only assign roles below their own level.
+ Unlocks:
Two more kinds of authority sit alongside these roles:
+ - Edit thread titles (your own threads).
+ - Larger file upload limits (25 MB).
+ - Access to advanced poll settings (anonymous voting, custom close dates).
+ - Higher bump allowance (3 per day instead of 1).
- **Scoped moderator grants.** A member can be made a moderator of a single forum, category, file area, or game area without being a site-wide moderator. The "Super Mod" and "File Mod" labels you may see refer to these scoped grants.
- **Course roles in mobieusLearn.** If your community uses mobieusLearn, course authoring and grading are granted per course, separate from the roles above.
+ ### Level 3 — Veteran
## Trust Levels
+ Earned after:
Trust levels are earned automatically as you take part. They unlock capabilities over time.
+ - 200 posts or replies.
+ - 90 days of membership.
+ - Received at least 50 reactions.
+ - Zero active warnings.
| Level | Name | How it is reached |
|-------|------|-------------------|
| **0** | Newbie | The starting point for a new account |
| **1** | Member | Verify your email and make at least 5 posts |
| **2** | Senior Member | 30+ days as a member, 25+ posts, a positive post score, email verified |
| **3** | Ambassador | 90+ days, 100+ posts, a strong positive post score, email verified |
| **4** | Veteran | Granted by a moderator |
+ Unlocks:
Administrators and above automatically sit at Ambassador or higher. Veteran is not earned automatically — a moderator grants it.
+ - Ability to recategorize threads to different forums.
+ - Access to the "Regulars" private forum.
+ - Highlighted username in post listings.
+ - Eligible for community moderator nominations.
Each time you reach a new trust level, you earn 250 credits.
+ ## Checking Your Trust Level
## How They Work Together
+ Go to **Profile > Stats** to see your current trust level, progress toward the next level, and a breakdown of the criteria.
Roles and trust levels are independent. A moderator keeps all moderator powers regardless of trust level. Trust levels mainly affect what regular members can do.
+ ## Notes
Your trust level updates automatically as you post, and a moderator can grant a level directly. Check your current level on your profile stats.
+ - Trust levels are recalculated daily. If your account receives a warning, your trust level may be temporarily reduced.
+ - Roles and trust levels are independent. A moderator at Trust Level 1 still has all moderator permissions. Trust levels mainly affect what regular users can do.
