Current state: Clicking through to a thread is the only way to see content.
Proposed improvement: Add a hover-card or preview pane that shows the first post content and metadata when hovering over a thread title. Reduces click-throughs for members who are skimming the thread list.
Competitive context: Discourse shows a topic excerpt on hover. Facebook Groups shows post preview inline.

Resolved. Hovering over a thread title in the forum listing now shows a preview card with the first 200 characters of the opening post. The card appears after a 400ms delay (prevents flickering during fast scrolling) and disappears on mouse-leave. The excerpt is fetched from the database as part of the existing thread listing query using the denormalized first_post_id, so there is no extra query cost.
