# Scheduled Posts
+ Scheduled posts let you compose content now and have it published automatically at a future date and time.
Scheduling lets you compose a thread now and have it publish automatically at a future time. Scheduling is a moderator and admin tool — useful for announcements, event reminders, and content series.
## How to Schedule a Post
+ 1. Compose your thread as you normally would (title, content, forum selection, tags).
+ 2. Instead of clicking **Post**, click the **dropdown arrow** next to the Post button.
+ 3. Select **Schedule for Later**.
+ 4. Choose a date and time using the date picker. Times are shown in your local timezone.
+ 5. Click **Schedule**.
1. Compose your thread as usual (title, content, forum, tags).
2. Set a future publish date and time instead of posting right away.
3. Submit. The thread is saved and stays hidden until its publish time arrives.
+ The thread is saved as a scheduled draft and will be published automatically at the selected time.
Times use your local timezone. Set your timezone in **Account → Timezone** so posts go live when you expect.
## Managing Scheduled Posts
+
+ View and manage all your scheduled posts from **Profile > Scheduled Posts**. From this page you can:
+
+ - **Edit** a scheduled post (change content, tags, or destination forum).
+ - **Reschedule** — pick a new date and time.
+ - **Publish Now** — bypass the schedule and publish immediately.
+ - **Delete** — cancel the scheduled post entirely.
+
+ Each scheduled post shows its destination forum, scheduled time, and current status.
+
+ ## The Cron System
+
+ Scheduled posts are processed by a background cron job that runs every minute. When the cron checks and finds a scheduled post whose publish time has passed, it:
+
+ 1. Sets the post status to "published."
+ 2. Inserts it into the forum listing with the scheduled timestamp (so it appears at the correct chronological position).
+ 3. Triggers notifications to subscribers of that forum or tag.
+ In rare cases, there may be a delay of up to 60 seconds between the scheduled time and actual publication.
View your scheduled posts at `/account/scheduled`. For each one you can:
+ ## Who Can Schedule Posts
- **Publish now** — clear the schedule and publish the thread immediately.
+ Scheduling is available to all members at Trust Level 1 (Member) and above. New Members (Trust Level 0) must wait until they reach Member status.
A scheduled post stays private until it publishes. Once it publishes, it appears in the forum at the scheduled time so it lands in the right chronological position, and subscribers to that forum or tag are notified.
+ Moderators and admins can schedule posts on behalf of the community — useful for announcements, event reminders, and content series.
There can be a short delay — up to about a minute — between the scheduled time and the post actually appearing.
