Forum Administration

Manage forums and categories from the admin panel.

Category Management

Categories are top-level containers. Access at /admin/forums or through forum settings.

  • Create categories with a name, description and sort order
  • Reorder by dragging categories into the display order you want
  • Min role to view restricts entire categories to certain roles
  • No-index hides categories from the forum directory (e.g., user walls)
  • Allow user forums lets members create forums in this category

Forum Management

  • Create forums with a name, slug, description and category assignment
  • Edit changes the name, description and settings
  • Soft delete hides the forum (recoverable within 30 days)
  • Restore brings back a soft-deleted forum
  • Purge deletes permanently (irreversible)

Per-Forum Settings

Each forum has a settings page at /forums/{slug}/settings:

  • Visibility is Public, Listed Private (preview only for non-members) or Hidden
  • Community style shows the cover banner, icon, member count and tabs
  • Anonymous posting lets members post without showing their identity
  • Paid access charges for membership (monthly, yearly, or one-time)
  • Brand color sets the accent color for the forum
  • Topic templates pre-fill the post body for Question, Announcement, and Showcase thread types
  • Trust-level requirements set the minimum trust level a member needs to post in the forum, to post links, or to view the forum at all. Use these to slow new-account spam without closing the forum. Moderators and admins are exempt. See Trust Levels & Roles.

Moderator Assignment

Assign moderators at /admin/mod-assignments:

  • Forum moderator moderates a specific forum
  • Category super-moderator moderates all forums in a category
  • File moderator moderates a file exchange area

AutoMod Rules

Per-forum automated moderation at /forum/{slug}/mod/automod:

  • Pattern matching uses regex rules that match post content
  • Actions are auto-remove, flag for review and shadow-delete
  • Testing dry-runs rules against sample text before you enable them
