Mobile Experience

Mobieus is fully responsive and works in any mobile browser. There is no app to download. This page covers the mobile layout, notifications, themes, and how to get the best experience on your phone or tablet.

Mobile layout

On narrow screens the platform switches to a mobile-optimized layout with a bottom navigation bar, full-width media, and touch-friendly controls. Long threads collapse extra replies behind a "Show more" control to cut down on scrolling.

Composing on mobile

The mobile editor gives you a simplified formatting toolbar, full Markdown support (type the syntax directly), and an image button that opens your camera or photo library. Drafts are saved automatically while you write, so you can leave and come back without losing your work. See My Drafts.

Themes

Your theme follows you to mobile. You can pick from six themes in Account → Appearance:

Theme Look
Dark The default. Mobieus blue and purple on dark navy.
Green Glowing green-on-black CRT terminal.
Amber Amber-on-black CRT terminal.
Blue Commodore 64 style, light text on blue.
Light Bright surface with dark text.
High Contrast Monochrome green-on-black.

If you are not signed in, mobile follows your device's light or dark setting automatically.

Notifications

Mobile notifications use your browser's notification system:

  1. On your first visit you may be prompted to allow notifications.
  2. If you allow them, you get push notifications for direct messages, replies, mentions, and other activity.
  3. Choose which notifications push you from the Notifications preferences page.

Add to your home screen

For an app-like experience, add the site to your home screen:

  • iOS (Safari): tap the Share icon, then "Add to Home Screen."
  • Android (Chrome): tap the menu, then "Add to Home Screen."

Launched from the home screen, the site runs full-screen without the browser address bar.

Performance tips

  • Images load as you scroll (lazy loading), which saves mobile data.
  • On a slow connection, give media a moment to load before tapping through.
