Notifications

Stay informed about activity that matters to you.

Notification types

  • Replies tell you someone replied to your thread or one you follow.
  • Mentions tell you someone @mentioned you in a post.
  • Friend requests tell you someone sent you a friend request.
  • Awards tell you someone gave an award to your post.
  • Messages tell you about new direct messages.
  • Moderation tells you about actions taken on your content.
  • Course grades tell you your submitted course work was graded (mobieusLearn).
  • Event reminders arrive before an event you RSVP'd to.
  • Support ticket replies tell you an agent replied to a support ticket you opened.

Managing notifications

Visit /notifications to see all of them. Unread notifications show a badge count in the navigation bar.

Notification preferences

Open /notifications/preferences to choose how you're notified for each kind of activity. Each kind has three channels you toggle independently:

  • In-app: the bell badge in the navigation.
  • Email: a message to your inbox.
  • Push: a system alert even when the site is closed. Turn on push for your device first.

Course grades, event reminders, and support ticket replies always show in-app and email (they're things you asked to hear about), with push as an opt-in. Turn it on in your preferences to get them on your device too.

You can also switch on a Weekly Digest, a Monday-morning email roundup of top posts, new files, upcoming events, and new members.

Billing and subscription notices (a trial about to convert, a failed or recovered payment, a cancellation) are always on. They affect your access, so they can't be turned off.

Push notifications

If your browser supports push notifications and you've granted permission, you'll get desktop alerts for new activity. On mobile, the same browser push delivers alerts. See Mobile Experience.
