Modmail

Modmail is a private channel between you and a forum's moderation team. Use it to report an issue, ask about the rules, or discuss a moderation action.

Sending a modmail

  1. Open the forum your message relates to. Modmail goes to that forum's moderators.
  2. Use the forum's Modmail action to start a message.
  3. Write your message. You can paste links to specific posts or threads for context.
  4. Send.

Your message reaches the moderators of that forum, and any of them can reply.

Where modmail lives

Your modmail conversations appear in your Messages area at /messages/modmail. You get a notification when a moderator replies, and the conversation continues as a thread so you can follow up.

Modmail is private. Only you and that forum's moderation team can see it.

When to use modmail

  • Reporting rule violations that need a moderator.
  • Asking about a moderation action taken on your content.
  • Requesting help with something only staff can do (moving a thread, for example).
  • Sensitive topics you don't want to raise in public.

For general "how does this work" questions, posting in the community help forum is often faster — other members can answer, and everyone benefits.

Tips

  • Be specific. Link to the content and say what you'd like to happen.
  • Be patient. Moderators are volunteers and may take a few hours.
  • One topic per conversation. Start a new modmail for a separate issue.

For moderators

Moderators see modmail for the forums they moderate in the same Messages → Modmail area (/messages/modmail), scoped to their forums. From there a moderator can reply, leave an internal note for the team, and resolve the conversation. A member can reopen a resolved conversation by replying.
